Eden: Dr. Horrible line up final / Portfolio page

Billy/Dr. Horrible: An aspiring supervillain of the mad scientist variety with the catchphrase "I've got a Ph.D. in Horribleness". He desires to become a member of Bad Horse's Evil League of Evil and use his inventions to take over the world and enact social change for the betterment of humanity. His socio-political beliefs include the paradoxical idea of autocratic anarchy: "The world is a mess, and I just... need to rule it". As Billy, he struggles to make a romantic connection with Penny.

Captain Hammer: Dr. Horrible's archenemy, a superhero who possesses super-human strength and near-invulnerability. Hammer is self-centered and enjoys harassing Dr. Horrible even when the situation does not warrant it.

Penny: Dr. Horrible's love interest. Quite and timid but not too shy. She is idealistic, generous, and volunteers at a homeless shelter.

Moist: Dr. Horrible's friend and sidekick, who has the underwhelming ability to dampen things. Dr. Horrible calls him "my evil moisture buddy".

Bad Horse: Leader of the Evil League of Evil. Not much is said of him other that he is "the thoroughbred of sin."

Aaron Painter- Assignment 12- Line up *UPDATED

UPDATED:

Dwarf Wizard

Premise: solid, stern, the logically center of the group. He is the oldest member of the group (other than Stoney) and feels like he is getting to old to deal with this stuff.
Design: He is a solid shape.

Dragon Kid
Premise: little kid, loves dragons. Super crazy full of energy He is an orphan and runs around with the group becuase he loves adventure. Pretty useless in a fight.
Design: Pointy shapes.

Stone Golem named Stoney
Premise: The Groot of the group. In the animated version he’ll probably be voiced by Vin Diesel. Strong but has a soft heart.
Design: Large shapes, but with little fingers and rounded edges to show he has a soft side.

Tree Nymph named Nelly
Premise: The opposite of Stoney. She’s the one that is hard as rock.
Design: sharp pointy dangerous shapes, but still feminine.

3 Goblins
Premise: 3 goblins. One has really long arms and short legs and one has really long legs and short arms, and the one in the middle is just normal. Together they are the size of a normal man.
Design: this was hard and I don't think I'll every want to draw this character over and over again in a comic or story book. I used traditional goblin shapes, pointy nose, pointy ears, green skin etc. I wanted the silhouette to still look like a normal person and not 3 goblins.

Jon Snow - Line Up Final

Kurt Marrott Line up WIP

Snacks
-Premise: Snacks is a grumpy, old and very, very short wizard. Solitude is his favorite pass time ands makes potions to make due. Though too old for anymore adventures, he still earns for them. Even if he is complaining all along the way.
-Design: Snacks is grounded shape with an elements of whimsical. his main mass is a half circle to give a stocky, hunched look to illustrate age and hight. His long whimsical triangle hat really gives the sense of this shortness.

Ugly Princess
-Premise: Due to a large over bite, the slurred speech-ed Princess is tired of her ugly feature. Driven, but shy, she seeks Snack the Wizard for a love potion so suiters of neighboring kingdoms will take her seriously for her hand. Her adventure with Snacks to find the last ingredient for her love potion will prove that true potential or beauty, isn't obtained by a potion
-Design: Her silhouette is based off of a closed flower. It gives a sense of her shyness and metaphorically symbolizes that her inner potential has yet to bloom. The sharp curves shows movement which my intent was to illustrate, though shy, she motivation.

Max the Bagboy
-Premise: Max,the non-magical apprentice, is only known to Snacks as Bagboy. He cleans up after Snacks, carry all his potion supplies, and always able to withstand Snacks' constant sarcasm and barking. Max doesn't have any ambitions and would be rather be told what to do. Snacks, though tough on him, sees Max's potential for greatness as a potion's master. (yes, Snacks does know his name, but refuses to show he cares). It may take a driven princess to awake his hidden potential.
-Design: Square shapes to show that he is fine how he is and doesn't seek for change. However the slight hints of small triangles on the top corners give direction or movement. Not his own but the direction given by his Master or others.

Dragon
-Dragon is the master of the night skies! Always looking for the perfect "Snack", this long life enemy of Snacks has desired to take over the Princess's Kingdom for ages. However all attempts have always been foiled buy Snacks' trickery. Luck might be insight as rumor has reached his ear (though his Skeletal army) that Snacks seeks an ingredient in his homeland.
-Design:The sharp crescent shapes are my attempt to give a dangerous feel. Unlike Snacks, slow and sturdy, Dragon relies on his speed and stealth. Master of the night, the moon is a symbol of the night.

Skelton Army Minion:
-Premise: Part of the grand army of the undead controlled by the Dragon, this little minion is more destructive than helpful to the Dragon. Very much like Dug from Up.
-Design: Squares like blocks, but stacked like a almost toppling Janga game. Big head, but it's only filled with air.

Min - Character Line Up 2

From Left To Right

Gal, Ilo, Shakira, Lynn, Ho

<Gal>

Premis: Late 50s year old guy, evil, hunch back, big eyes, selfish, greedy, not that rich

The Design: I started drawing his torso with a square shape because I wanted him to have some angles to show his not rounded personality, and his back is arrow-shape because he is a hunch back. Also, he has big round frightening eyes to scare others, and his sharp edged ears and nose, and his big mouth can make him look more scary. Compared to that mass-heavy torso, his legs are skinny because he is an old guy.

<Ilo>

Premis: Early teenage boy (child), bright, pure, cute, happy, having a dream, excited, loving, innocent, short

The Design: He is the youngest among the characters, so I drew him the smallest. To show his innocence and brightness, I made his gesture more active that others'. His round shape of head can tell people how he is easygoing, and his big pure eyes and his big smile can tell that he is cute and dreaming even though it is in a shadow.

<Shakira>

Premis: Late teenage girl, doubtful, cynical, cold, luxury, rich, self-confident, smart, brave, insightful

The Design: To show her doubtful personality, she has a very closed gesture. Because she is from a rich family, she has pretty good fur and a big luxury purple dress. Her shape is based on triangle because she is not that rounded but cynical and doubtful, but she still has rounded triangular shape because she is still smart, cute girl

<Lynn>

Premis: Early 20s year old girl, mysterious, something is hidden, quiet, pretty, the most feminine, can't read her mind, tall, nobody knows her story, looks like a rich girl

The Design: She is a tall skinny girl because she is supposed to be a very mysterious girl, and I thought the elongated design would fit to her personality. She is hiding something, so her gesture is very neat and polite not to show her emotion that much. Because she is the most feminine girl, her shape is basically very curvy like a co-ka cola bottle.

<Ho>

Premis: Late 20s year old guy, lovely, loving someone for 10 years, romantic, rich, luxury, big guy but very shy

The Design: He is a big guy so I had a square shape for his torso. However he is very shy and lovely, his shoulder went up when he was trying to give a rose to someone. He is from a powerful and rich family, so he wears very good quality outfit. He is also very interested in his fashion, because he wants to be looked good to the one he likes, so he has very fashionable hair style than others.

Katie LaFontaine- Lineup Final and Portfolio Page

Finished Characters Left to Right

Lolli's Partner
Premis: Originally from a wealthy family but got caught up in a dangerous misunderstanding. Lolli saved him and then blackmailed him into being her packmule/side-kick. The vagabond life was previously glorified in his mind but now he's learning the not so sweet truth about constantly being on the run.

Design: I gave him a chocolate color palette to show that he's from a different class of society than Lolli and the orphan girl. I also made his feet larger compared to his leg size since he's clumsy and not as fast. He differs from Lolli since most of his carry weight is on top while her weighted items are lower. However, I kept him relatively the same height as her to signify that they are a team.

Orphan Girl
Premis:Looks up to Lolli as a role model. Wants to help out but is too young. Innocent on the surface with a few tricks up her sleeves.

Design: Super bright colors to show how much energy she has. Even kept her skin tone a bit yellowish as a signifier of the candy-coated world she's from. I also kept her hair out of her face since it gives her a more rambunctious look. Her doll-like shape keeps her young and sweet.

Mademoiselle Lollipop (aka Lolli)
Premis: Robin hood type of figure. Steals candy from the rich to give to the poor. Protector and leader of  a small group of orphaned children. Views herself as a tainted hero, but at her core she's lawful good.

Design: Thin legs and arms to show that she is very quick on her feet. Her basic silhouette reflects her lollipop since that is the symbol that she is identified by. She's a mix of rounded and sharp areas (hair curves/lollipop dents) to show that she is a heroine who's a bit rough around the edges.

Character Line up and Final portfolio by TJ BAE

Big granny
Premise: Problem solver, lived a tough life trough hard body work labor.
Design: Gave her a frown forehead to emphasize her tough life experiences,  big body with bossy impression for someone people can trust. Replaced her arm with robot part to show that her arm joint has worn out through hard works. + darkest skin

Mechanical Grandpa
Premise: Supporter for the group
Design: He made and fix grannies robot parts, and his all body parts are made of robots.
Crazy Hair granny:
Premise: A leader for the group, and she has been hiding her craziness for a long time.
Design: Her distinctive crazy robot hair (it sparks more brighter when she goes crazy), and sharp pointy glass design.  Married to Mechanical Grandpa.
Thin Granny
Premise: Brain of the team
Design: She studied too much, barely going outside that her skins are super pale and replaced her eye and ear.
Hot Body granny:
Premise: Finger head or pretty
Design: Body that doesn't influenced by the gravity and time. She used to be a model that she is the tallest and most fashionable character.

Groesbeck Portfolio Page Final

Groesbeck Character Lineup

Characters in order from left to right:

The Black King of Djinn: Foreboding and animalistic, volatile in nature. A glutton and a brash king, but he can be kind if appeased.

Zumruud: A former slave girl liberated by Jann. Jann mistakenly believes her to be the hero who can help him increase his power and status in the supernatural hierarchy of djinn. She and Jann explore the desert together and find treasure, encounter enemies, and conquest dungeons.

Jann: The protagonist of the story. He is timid and wants nothing more than to become a stronger and more powerful djinn. His body shape has the potential for a hero build but it won't be until the end of the story that he realizes he and Zumruud are perfect. Jann has the ability to transform into various glowing weapons. He is either afraid and timid or acting silly.

Si'lat: A mysterious figure. As a shape shifter his true face is never seen. The only way to defeat him is to destroy his copper mask which only segments from his body when is in another form. The entire species is similar to this si'lat; smoky bodies with masks of jewels and metals

Ghul: Another mysterious race. Outside the color hierarchy it is difficult to understand the power of the Ghul race. This figure acts as an antihero to Jann and Z. These all female ghul are the most feared by humans, they can shape shift as well but only for short periods of time and their tattoos will always be visible making them distinguishable if you know what to look for.

Overall color palette: Cool colors denote higher beings in the supernatural hierarchy of this world. Warm colors denote beings closer to earth. Zumruud is the character visually meant to break this color trend. Monochrome environments with a prioritization of cool lighting to enhance the red yellow glow of Jann's weapon forms.

Bennett - Character Lineups Final

Artimis-
-Premise: A battle-damaged combat robot with a malfunctioning memory chip. He assists Eugene as his mentor and teaches him to fight and survive on the planet Matinia. He was damaged by an explosion and he found scraps to put himself back together.
-Design: I started with a big triangle to Artimis because I wanted him to feel dangerous. I gave him the completely circular eyes to show his innocence and neutrality.

Eugene Jasper-
-Premise: An astronaut that was accidentally caught in a black hole which sent him to another galaxy. He crash landed on Matinia and is the sole survivor of the crash. This was his first mission, which was with his father, and so he is very naive and not yet ready to face the challenges that lie ahead.
-Design: Eugene is a very weak feeling character. He doesn't have a lot of mass or thickness to him and his expression and pose both communicate his "fish out of water" situation. I made sure to make him somewhat lanky and squares in the design are on his suit, which is what he depends on to survive at this point. I give him a blue-dominant color design because it communicates his sincerity.

Chunk (C25-K)-
-Premise: The Jasper family's assistance robot. Chunk has been around since Eugene was a little boy and has been a best friend for him. Chunk is as sassy as a robot can get but he's also very capable of handling tough situations and lending aid. He is the biggest comic relief of this hero's journey.
-Design: I gave him a very boxy appearance to show dependability but I also wanted to add a sense of kindness and spunk with the curves and circles. He is very rusty to show his age but he still functions at 100%.

Queen Asandra-
-Premise: The queen of the Virtri people on Matinia. She is probably the biggest wild-card in the story, since her affiliations and methods are quite sketchy. She is from a very violent race and so she leads her people with an iron fist. She is being held captive by the Makton people as their two races are at war. When Eugene stumbles upon her in captivity, they work together to escape and form a reluctant alliance.
-Design: I wanted to make Asandra both dangerous and beautiful. She has a very powerful stance and her color scheme communicates both royalty (gold) and danger (red). She needs to feel like she could turn on Eugene at any time but holds herself back from harming him.

Krotak-
-Premise: Krotak is the War-chief of the Makton people. He's been in many battles and his body has suffered for it. In a battle not too long ago he even lost a hand, resulting in his crude bionic plasma-canon attachment. He is the main villain of the story as he is tasked with hunting down Eugene and Queen Asandra.
-Design: I started out with a big huge square for Krotak. I wanted him to feel strong, intimidating and relentless. I also implemented sharp spikes to make him feel like he's now more than just a plain creature, but one who has seen a lot of battle and has brought along some souvenirs from it all.
